Eastland Mall Honors Lima Company
Columbus, OH – June 5, 2006 – Eastland Mall will honor the Lima Company, 3rd BN, 25th Marines at a flag raising ceremony on Flag Day, Wednesday, June 14th 2006 at 9:30am. The event will take place at the Sears flagpole on the Refugee Road side of the mall. The event is free and open to the public.
As part of the ceremony, Eastland Mall will present the Lima Company, 3rd BN, 25th Marines with a 6’ x 30’ banner that has been signed by hundreds of Eastland Mall shoppers, showing their support and gratitude for the Marine unit.
The flag raising ceremony is being held in conjunction with An Old Gloryous Celebration led by the International Council of Shopping Centers, Inc. (ICSC). The celebration unites communities via shopping centers in a commemoration of patriotism and the American flag. Supported by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and AMVETS (American Veterans), nearly 500 shopping centers from 14 leading developers will raise the flag across America on Flag Day.
“Eastland Mall did not want this message of thanks to be strictly from the mall, but rather a community thank you. We want the community to be and feel a part of this and we hope they will bring their families and join us on Flag Day for this special ceremony. We also wanted to show the Lima Co. that the community’s support did not end with their homecoming, but is a continuous sentiment that the Eastland community embraces,” said Richard Hunt, Eastland Mall General Manager.
Eastland Mall kicked off their Old Gloryous Celebration over Memorial Day weekend by having shoppers sign pledge cards, pledging to fly the American flag on Flag Day. Hundreds of shoppers have already pledged and Eastland Mall will continue to take pledges up until Flag Day. Every person to pledge receives a free stick flag while supplies last.
