Response to Discrimination Claims
All are welcome to use Eastland Mall for the purpose it was intended. We enforce our Standards of Conduct to ensure a safe and pleasant shopping environment. These standards are posted at the main entrances and clearly posted on our Web site.
The Ohio Civil Rights Commission recently received discrimination claims from customers of Eastland Mall. We have received copies of several of the claims and are reviewing them. The mall, its tenants, and Glimcher Realty Trust do not engage in or condone any discriminatory practices and are cooperating fully with the Commission.
We are confident the Commission’s review of the claims will show that employees at the mall acted properly and did not engage in any discriminatory behavior.
The Ohio Civil Rights Commission has a thorough process for reviewing all such cases. To learn more about the process, visit Ohio Civil Rights Commission’s Web site.
Eastland’s Community Contributions
Located at Hamilton and Refugee roads in Columbus, Eastland Mall and its 70 retailers employ more than 1,500 central Ohioans and accounted for more than $690,000 in real estate taxes in 2006. Sales last year topped the $100 million mark as the mall continued its growth following renovation.
Eastland Mall has been a fixture of the Columbus community since 1967 and contributes to the east-side community both civically and economically, including charitable donations of $62,500 to community schools and non-profit organizations in 2006. We uphold high standards in treating our community partners and customers with complete courtesy and respect. Eastland Mall offers everything from a diverse shopping experience to employment opportunities as well as charitable programs and resources for shoppers.
